Amy Gower
BackAccess and Outreach Officer
I am responsible for our attainment raising programme in The Commonweal School and the the care experienced student programme (Future Pathways) in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. I also deliver our targeted outreach provision.
More about me:
Originally from Dorset, I moved to Reading six years ago to study for my PhD in History, which examined gender and inequality within late twentieth century English state schools. I have worked in education at all levels over the years, as a sports coach, tutor, teaching assistant, and more recently in higher education as a student union adviser and as a lecturer in History. Working on widening participation programmes for the University of Reading and the Brilliant Club helped me to see how both my passion for social justice and my research expertise could be applied to the present day and make a difference to young people’s lives. When I am not working for Study Higher, I can be found at a quiz with friends, trawling Reading’s charity shops for vintage bargains, or reading something spooky.
